I'm At IMATS... Har-Har!

As some of you may know, I attended IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) yesterday in Pasadena, CA. Let me tell you, I had so much fun! It wasn't like just another trip to the mall or being inside a really big Sephora or anything. I mean, of course, it's a convention but not just any convention, a MAKEUP convention! Not just beauty stuff, ARTSY stuff! What more could a chick like me ask for?

Anywhooz, I met up with my lovelies, Jackie & Tia; they had me standing on the corner looking like a conservative hooker, waiting on them! Damn Filipino time!!!! LOL, all good, they were worth the wait. Oh yea, I should mention, Tia's BF [Brian] was there too. He was our designated photographer, which we all appreciated very much so that's why I had to throw in his name =)

Finally inside and the first thing we saw was this rather brightly colored man and his package =)

I was trippin' off this one! If you think he looks real in the picture, you shoulda seen him in real life! I swear this kid was gonna start crying soon! I must've stared at it for a good 5 minutes, just waiting to see if it would start breathing.



If only the rest of the world were as open minded as the artist that created this, I'd totally wear this on a night out!!!

This is Brian, our photographer. He got his chance to be in front of the camera, and with a well dressed ghost at that! Doesn't she look eery? She's got a white cast surrounding her entire body!




I swear, every time I see this pic, it just seems so surreal. I mean, just the day before we're all just Twittering with one another and checking to see what's up on our google readers. Then all of the sudden, BAM! There we all were, in the flesh!

There were a few more girls behind us, Pink was one of them. They were a little busy buying stuff, or playing with makeup I think. But in any case, there was quite a few of us walking around. I'm sure there were a lot more girls that we might not have recognized off the bat. But it's ok. Oh yea, I saw Linda from MPPB, but I was still in the car and she was standing in line! I rushed out of the car after I parked but she was gone =( Too bad, I could have gotten a little gift.



And lookie who we got here!!! She found us, but no way we'd ever miss this lovely girl in the crowd! It's Vanessa of NessasaryMakeup =) We got to hang out with her a bit at the Crown Brushes booth... or should I say WALL! Dude, you guys should have seen the Crown Brush display, they took up most of the back wall. I swear, it was like a buffet line except people couldn't decide what to put on their plate! BTW, do y'all notice Nessa towering over us? LOL, she's actually kinda bending her knees in this pic, too.



After all is said and done, we went outside to rest... all that walking makes a girl hate her shoes! Actually, maybe it was just me. Let's just say, I picked a bad day to break in my new boots =/


Here we are on the bench, acting a fool! LOL, we took it waaaay back; back in the teeny-bopper, studio picture days! What can I say, we know how to entertain ourselves.

I don't know what that white thing is by my arm, it wasn't there in the other pix... an orb, perhaps?

Here's the goods!

Two free booklets, 2 brushes, and 1 lash glue. LOL, yea, big spender right? Actually, I've stated it before, I went to IMATS to socialize with other makeup art enthusiasts, and that I did. Besides, a lot of the stuff that I really, really wanted were things I'd never use anyway. Like theater makeup and such. I barely use the shit I have now, and I'd hate for good quality items to go to waste. But still, it was great. Perhaps next year =)


When Eve Pearl was doing her demonstration, she used this glue. As she was describing it, I knew I had to get my hands on a tube! She said it's grey when it's wet, but dries to a matte black. I currently use DUO, which is still a great glue, but yeno... gotta have that back up.




The next two items were gifts from Tia!!! She said it was for my graduation =) So sweet, no? Thanks so much Tia, I know you said, "girl, you only got 2 things, that's nothing." But dude, trust me, that's a LOT to me!


First up, is this pretty little brush from Crown Brushes. When I felt this, I instantly fell in love. The bristles were so soft but dense-ish. I really didn't know what I needed it for, I already have a blush brush & and a contour brush, but they're both angled. So a pointed one would be a nice little addition to the brush family, right?



Then there's this one. I forgot the name, but if you've ever heard about MAC's 109 brush, this is supposed to be the dupe. And for less than a quarter of the price, I figured hell, why not?

Overall, I had such an awesome time. Great event w/even greater company =) Thank you ladies and Mr. Photog, we gotta do this again soon!
