Manong Ondoy, Please Leave Mama Pinas ALONE!

    Hey everyone!
As some of you might already know Manila has been hit by a massive typhoon. It's been dubbed as "Ondoy", but quite frankly I could give a rats ass what the name of any natural disaster is. They're all evil. Period.

The latest I've heard on the news is that the body count is now up to 140. That's just the "confirmed" count, there's probably (but hopefully not) hundreds more. However, thousands are left with absolutely nothing.

I really don't know what else to say about this tragedy, words aren't gonna help. So I'm just gonna get to the point, if you're interested in helping or spreading the word so others can help, please refer them to these links:

Inquirer.net: How to Help Ondoy Victims

    and
    The Philippine National Red Cross

    * * * * *
    Thanks everyone!
[PS: if anyone is wondering about the title of this post, it just mean Mr. Ondoy, please leave my mother land alone]

    WTH: Counter-FAKES!

I know the issue of counterfeits is nothing new.
However, it re-surfaced itself when I read, somewhere, someone asking if they knew any info about where they could purchase "replica MAC".

I thought to myself, why, oh why would someone specifically ask for replica MAC?

Then it came to me... THE NEED TO BE *BRANDED*
Now I know a lot of people are easily seduced by store ads, magazine ads, internet ads, etc... Hello? That's what good marketing is! However, not everyone can actually afford any of that stuff, yet companies are always throwing all these ads in our faces, telling us "You need this shit! Buy it NOW!!!"

With that said, I can't really blame anyone for wanting a replica-anything if they can't afford the real deal. But rather, I wish that some of these people would realize that while you're walking on the street, no one is gonna go up to you and say, "that's a MAC blush, isn't it?" [I mean, damn... if anyone ever does that to you, ya might wanna mase'em.]

Besides, there are so many great drugstore finds out there! For example, I'm a fan of NYX Cosmetics, they have plenty of MAC dupes and their quality is outstanding. And places like CherryCulture, NonPareilBoutique, and oh hell, even E.L.F. 's got some really great stuff!

    Oh, and BTW...
I know there are also some people who don't want replicas and hope to spot a sweet deal on places like eBay or even some Blog Sales. These so-called sellers are quick to label their shit as *Limited Edition* or *Very Rare* so that when buyers start asking a lotta questions, they can say shit like, oh it was never sold in stores, online exclusive, blah blah blah. Yea, don't believe it.

If you are truly a MAC Cosmetics enthusiast, check out Specktra.net. You'll meet many folks just like you, and who knows, might even teach you a thing or two.

Anyway, here are some pictures I've gathered from google. It's not only obvious that there's nothing *replica* about them, but just look at how poorly made these are!!!

Ok, so even though I was not super impressed by the HK collection (as far as color), I did find the packaging very cute. But this stuff right here? Screams Dolla'Store and D.I.Y. Hello Kitty stickers.
    Photobucket

    I mean.... really?
    Photobucket

    ???
    Photobucket

Fafi did NOT come out with this many damn lippies!
    Photobucket

    ... neither did Heatherette.
    Photobucket

And if you think only MAC has been victimized...

    Seriously.... what?
    Photobucket

First of all, IF Chanel ever made a kit like this, their shadows would never look that grainy. And second, they wouldn't make a kit like this.
    Photobucket

So please, stop this need to be branded crap. It's not cute, and you're better than that.

    OODLES OF TOODLES!!!

    F*ck!t Friday: Graduation

So as some of you already know, I graduated this past June. I also said I kept mum about it, and that meant I didn't tell anyone who wasn't either 1) my immediate family or 2) living with me.

The reason for that is all my own and no one else's business. However, I will say that ONE of the reasons why is because I honestly didn't feel like anyone else needed to be there. Anyway, so the reason this is a F*ck!t Friday topic is because I've been getting some flack about why I didn't invite anyone, or why I was keeping it a secret.

Ok, so let's clear this shit up. I wasn't keeping it a secret. I publicly posted it online, after the fact. And you would think that after people found out, they'd be happy for me instead of getting offended that they weren't invited.

First of all, how dare ANYone feel offense about MY decision. How self-centered do you have to be to feel absolutely "offended" that I didn't tell you about it. No one but me was there staying up all those nights to finish up school work. No one but me made sure everything was done so I wouldn't be dreading school during work hours. And more importantly, no one but me made sure I was motivated every single fucking day to stay for that shit, some of which was stuff I felt was a total waste of time but had to do it anyway.

Obviously this post isn't meant for everyone. Just certain people. But I just had to air this out because it was getting ridiculous. It was MY graduation, and I did with it what I wanted to do. I just don't get how some people can be some serious babies at times. I mean, if you didn't invite me to something, I wouldn't be offended. If you didn't want me there, then you don't want me there, end of story.

    MOVING ON...

As with all FF posts, there's a silver lining =)

A couple weeks back, the Assistant Brand Manager over at Revlon, contacted to see if I wanted to test out their new Fantasy Lengths Eyelashes. Well, shoot... is a baboon a funky monkey? Hell yea! LOL, but seriously I was really glad for that offer and I jumped at the chance.

So yesterday, the samples came and here they are.
    Photobucket
    Aren't they pretty???

Anyway, I think it might take me a couple weeks (hopefully less) to really give these babies a go. I wanna be able to give a detailed review on them, ya'know?

But in the mean time, here they are up close.

    Photobucket
This one looks the most day-to-day friendly out of the bunch.

    Photobucket
These are my favorite so far... they look like a hassle to put on butttt... they look totally worth it.

    Photobucket
This one also looks like it'll be ok for day-to-day looks.

These next couple of lashes are "self-adhesive". Yea, I'll be honest, I have my doubts, but it's worth a try.
    Photobucket
    This one...

    Photobucket
... and this one, look pretty similar... I'll have to really give'em a go to see if there's any difference in how they actually look ON.

    Okie dokie, pokies...

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

    Kay-Day

Before I get into what I did over the weekend, I wanted to share a couple new things I got.

I know there are many reviews on this product as it is, so I probably won't be doing a formal review on this. If I do decide to say my piece, you'll find a quick rundown of it here. Originally, I didn't want to waste time or money purchasing this product, I already have the original LashBlast that I love. Plus, I was afraid of all the shimmers falling into my eyes and blinding me.
[I already wear glasses, I don't need any help from makeup when it comes to my eyes' degenerating health].
    Photobucket
Anyway, so far, so good. I can't say too much about it now, it's my first day trying it. I will say that because of the shimmer, it's not black... more like a really dark brown. I LOVE super black lashes so I'm not entirely sure that this product is really tickling my fancy. But we'll see, maybe my BF will take me on a hot date and notice the extra twinkle in my eyes or something, who knows? I'll definitely update if anyone is interested in that.

Next up is the new Milani Infinite Liquid e/l... yea, I dunno if it's really new... I'm not much of a Milani girl so I don't really take my time to check out the Milani stand.
    Photobucket
Anyway, I reeeeaaally like this liner! It's thick and that swatch on my hand withstood a good washing. I tried scratching the thing off and it didn't budge. I did have to wait about a minute or so for it to dry completely. Some people might not have the patience for that, so yea... that's all completely up to you.

    * * * * * * * * * *

Ok, so on to my weekend.

I went to my niece's 1st year birthday party.

Here's the look, didn't go crazy... I knew I'd be surrounded by a bunch of kids, so I didn't want to scare any of them.
    Photobucket

This is her piñata... they had to hang it instead of hooking it cuz it was too big! It was about 2x bigger than the baby!!!
    Photobucket

    ... and her cake...
    Photobucket

This is the birthday girl, Kaylani =)
    Photobucket
Isn't she so cute in her lil cheerleading 'fit? In this picture, she was actually entertaining her "crowd" by clapping and raising her hands up repeatedly.

These are my dear friends, Kaylani's parents.
    Photobucket

Here's lil KayKay with her Uncle Kirby... she LOVES when he carries her on his neck btw. Makes her laugh EVERYtime.
    Photobucket

Here's what Kirby picked out for her, a Walk'n Ride... she can push the thing to help her walk, or ride on it like a bike.
    Photobucket

and this is what *I* picked out for her. Check out the bubble skirt!!! This picture does it no justice, that thing was ah-dooorable!!! When I saw it, I KNEW I couldn't leave the store w/o it.
    Photobucket

Lookie who showed up to the party! Miss Jackie!
    Photobucket

Of course, Jackie's "Baby Big Eyes" had to be there! This is Ethan, lookin' all dapper in his blue & brown 'fit =)
    Photobucket

That's all, but before I end this, I have to end it right. Here's a quick video of Kaylani. In this video, she's in her walker... she was saying hi to everyone and posing for pictures (really, she was) when the urge to go to the kitchen kicked in. She saw some streamers and decided to yank it off... that's why at the end of the video, you hear me go "oh" cuz I'm rushing over to make sure she didn't put it in her mouth.

Alritey folkers, that's it for now =)

    Toodles!

    Hump Day Random Bits

My gawwwd someone help me! I'm so damn obssessed with that stinking
FarmVille app on Facebook. All thanks to my sister-dearest, I've been
making sure I log back on to "harvest my crops" before they "wilt". There's even this one time when I made my brother wait half an hour because I was waiting on my strawberries to grow.

I've only been on it about a week, but I'm already going crazy trying to grow the best crops for coins so I can expand my farm! Thankfully I have so many great "neighbors" that give me cows, chickens, and other animals... and trees and stuff, that way I don't have to waste coins to buy them. But anyway, the strangest thing to me about this game is harvesting pigs & horses. First of all, you can't sell the pig and turn it into pork, you collect truffles. Someone explain to me, what the hell are truffles? Is that a nice way of saying bacon??? Next is the horse... how do you harvest a horse?

Whatever, I'm still addicted. Here's a snapshot of my farm =)
    Photobucket

Also, since my washer's being stupid, we've been using the neighborhood
laundromat. And of course, any place that uses quarters is gonna have
some type of gumball machine. But umm... I don't if anyone ever really looked at a laundromat's gumball machine, but those gumballs look hella old and nasty. So I got something from the machine next to it.

    Photobucket

No recession is gonna stop me from coppin' cute ass pinky-ringies =)Photobucket
    Photobucket

Oh and ONE LAST THING! Here's a video I took & edited of my baby, Henney. Crazy much? LOL, I love my puppy!

    That's all folkers!
    Happy Hump Day!

    Does It Matte-er?

LOL, I'm sorry for that stupid title, my creative juices aren't flowing like they use to. But I just wanted to share my very mini haul real quick.

Meet Revlon's Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude & Pink Pout.
    Photobucket

    Photobucket

I couldn't help it, CVS was having a BOGO Free on Revlon items. I've had my eyes on "Nude Attitude" for awhile now but have always doubted how much actual use I'd get out of it. But since they had this BOGO, I thought to myself that it must be a sign from the makeup gods.

Anyway, I gotta tell ya... these lippies are very nice. They really are matte, so if you're tired of all that shimmer, give these a try! They're very creamy and not at all drying (I've noticed some matte lippies are drying, but not these).

    Alrighty, that's all =)
    TOODLES!

    Happy Friday And...

Happy Labor Day, everybuddy! I know everyone's getting a 3-4 day weekend, right? Unfortunately, I've been labor free for awhile so I can't really say how glad I am to have a long weekend. That's cool, I'm not looking for pity or sympathy, I just want to remind you all to be safe. I mean hey, I HAVE worked before, and I know how crazy I can get at night when I know I don't have to do shit the next morning. But that's another post =) Just remember, buzzed driving is STILL drunk driving.

Anywhooz, did I ever tell y'all that the internet is a beautiful thing? I mean, sometimes I swear it's the devil in disguise but other times, I am absolutely in awe of it. Let me tell you why; as some of you may know, I wasn't born here. I got to Cali when I was 8, so that means I had a mini-life elsewhere.

I had 3 really great friends and we all swore we'd never lose touch no matter what. To make a long story short, one of them has been really great at keeping in contact with me. As a matter of fact, we email regularly and I make sure to hang out with her whenever I'm back home for vacation.

The second friend, I lost touch with him sometime during high school because that foo' kept moving around and didn't have an email address. But he later found me on Facebook earlier this year. It had been so long since I saw a picture of him, so I was really freaked out when he messaged me asking all these personal things. He was like is this Imee *****, who has a sister named Moanna, a mother named ******, used to go to this school, and yadda yadda yadda??? So the first thing on my mind was you stalker! I'm gonna cut you if I ever see you! But anyway, he later explained, and the rest is history.

The third friend, omg... I haven't seen her since I was 13! We lost touch ever since and I've occassionally been thinking about her. I tried to google her, but I wasn't really sure what her last name was or how it was spelled. And recently, I was cleaning out some junk from my room and found an old letter from her, stashed away somewhere. Lucky for me, I was a big time hoarder back then, so if I kept a letter, I kept the envelope (which had her last name on there). So a-googling I went, still nothing. However, I did find a chick with the same last name and looked similar to her. I emailed her and it turns out that's her sister! So yea, she told me my friend is married now with 2 kids and lives in Malaysia.

So what's the point of all this? I don't really know... but haven't you ever reminisced about the past, replayed a really fun memory in your head and thought, hmm... I wonder how so & so is doing? I mean, I know a lot of people's mentalities are to keep going forward and never look back. But when you're lost in the present, remembering the past will help you through it and guide you into the future.

Ooooookie dokie, this is lengthy enough...
    toodles!
