The example above isn't even the worst thing ever. I've seen some serious examples of people completely lacking common sense and I'm sure you have too. Like this one guy (true story, I saw it on TV's Dumbest Criminals) who took a blow torch to a gas station and tried to torch the lock so he could get free gas. Yea... let that marinate for a second. Idiot, right?

Anyway, so I'm calling on everyone's help for this one. Come 2010, instead of resolutions to diet or quit drinking or whatever, let's all vow to help. Help those who lack common sense.

Let's all lend a helping hand... and back-hand the dumbass that just ain't cuttin' it for humanity.

A Mini-Holiday Gathering

Over the weekend, my BF and I went to a holiday party thrown by our friend, Mark. I was really excited because it had been some time since I had a reason to put on a full face =) Too bad I decided to stick to neutrals LOL.



This is the look, it didn't end up being too different from my everyday look. Ha, oh well. I am, however, wearing a new foundation =) Yay! I got myself that Make Up For Ever HD liquid foundation. Sephora was offering $15 off for any purchase of $35 or more and I already had a $15 credit in my online account. So yea, I basically only paid $10 for that shit, not bad at'all.

If you notice, it does leave a bit of a white cast, but that could be my flash, too. I don't exactly have the best camera. Anyway, so far, so good. I also got that Kat Von D tote. It's nothing superb, it's similar to those reusable grocery bags but maybe a bit sturdier. I like it though, I thought of passing it along to someone else, but nah. It's mine.

Aside from being really awesome friends, we like to get together for breakfasts, brunches, lunches, linners, and dinners. Recently, we headed over to The Odyssey's Sunday Brunch Buffet.

A Christmas Story...

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a special event with y'all.
Last week, my niece's school had a Christmas/Advent Service at the church. I'm not here to promote any type of religion or religious view or whatever, so just keep in mind that I'm posting this because I thought the event was well put together and it was just cute overall!

On to the picturezzzzz....

In a special presentation (I won't call it a play cuz no one was really acting, just posing for pictures. There was absolutely no dialogue amongst the characters, just one narrator), my niece played the Virgin Mary. Check out the little lambs next to her... LOL so cute!

After the presentation the 8th, 7th, and 6th grade classes were brought to the front to sing a couple of Christmas songs.

New Series!!! Photo-Op...

I ain't gonna lie, I straight took this idea from Jackie of J.Rose Online! Call it unoriginal but hell, it was a great idea! I already told her I would so it's not like I'm being sneaky-sneaky.

Anyway, basically it's gonna be a series of short posts with a single picture of whatever defines me. Whether it's an actual picture of me or just a picture of something/someone I adore, it's gonna be something that'll give you a better insight of me.

So for this very first post, I give you...

This picture was taken at a photo-booth for Michelle & Dean's wedding this past August 2009. In the picture is Michelle (she's the bride, the one in white), Melissa, Matt and I. We call ourselves "The Club". I won't get into the details but we're frikken awesome aiiiite? That's all you need to know =)

The Solution Solicitor

Sound unfamiliar?
Trust me, everyone knows one.



He's the guy who has the answer for everything. He's the guy who you can't teach anything new to. He's also the guy who, for some reason, is always giving you advice on what you should or shouldn't be doing, what you did wrong and how you can fix it. Even when you haven't even asked him for advice, he knows exactly how to fix you and whatever you're going through.


Keep in mind, he's also the guy who isn't really doing shit, but he claims all he needs is that one big break. Its been years that he's been saying that; he's not even living paycheck to paycheck because sometimes he doesn't get one. Oh but he knows best when it comes to you. At least, he's convinced himself that he knows what's best for you.


This conversation might sound familiar:
Solution Solicitor: Hey how you doing?
You: Chillen, what's up?
SS: Did you do what I told you dawg? I told you that all you need to do is [insert crazy advice here].
You: Naw, I'm good. I'm alright for now.
SS: Man, you're never gonna get anywhere unless you [insert another crazy advice]

[Awkward moment]

You: So what's up with you? How you doing?
SS: Oh man, I'm still tryna get this job right here, I quit the last one cuz it was bullshit. They kept telling me what I was doing wrong. But you know, I got my plans so I'm good.


Anyway, I could go on but you get the jist of that conversation. Basically, everything he's doing is ok even if he ain't shit, but YOU need to fix whatever is going on.


I understand that this person could really be just looking out for you. Or it could be that deep down inside he knows you're doing a hell of a lot better than he is. So he finds ways to make himself feel superior by making you feel like you need his help. After all, between a student & teacher, the one learning is a subordinate right? So he wants to feel like he's got some authority over you, that way when he's sleeping on a friend's couch cuz he lost his apartment along with his job, he doesn't feel so shitty cuz he was able to share his expertise.


Now I'm not hating, but I will say the best advice is to lead by example. I understand some people might just have it really hard, they just can't catch a break. Trust me, I understand. But come on, don't tell me how to be a millionaire unless you are one. Don't tell me how to perfect my hustle unless yours is perfect. And please don't tell me how to live my life, unless I tell you that you're living the life I want.


So please, all solution solicitors:
just save your breath.

You Make Up Stuff? No Eye Makeup Stuff!

Eyes are the windows to the soul...
and if the above statement is correct, then my peepers better be saying good things about me!


Anyway, as much as I love playing with eyeshadows and such, deep down inside, I'm quite the laid back chick. I like my pop-of-color just as much as the next shadow junkie, but as far as an everyday ritual, I stick with the basics.

• L'Oreal H.I.P. Kohl Eyeliner in Black and Teal

When I first purchased this (the black one), I was pretty disappointed. But then I realized I was using it wrong! So, long story short, after I started using it properly and began to play around with it, I WAS IN LOVE! So in love in fact, that I bought a couple more. I ended up buying the brown one and the teal one. Then I discovered I'm not crazy about the brown one, but loooove the teal one. I use the black one almost every day to tightline my eyes, it just makes my lashes look so much fuller without mascara, so it's great for an everyday look, it's not at all harsh. I usually use the teal one just for a pop of color, I wear it on my waterline most days. It's not dramatic, but it does give off a bit of excitement in my eyes. Especially since I have dark brown eyes (naturally, grey w/contacts), so the teal makes for a good contrast.

• CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof in Very Black

I'm not really a CoverGirl fan, but seeing all the rave reviews and the commercials for this product, I knew I had to try it. I was definitely looking for a waterproof formula at the time, so I never tried the regular version cuz I really wasn't all that interested in it. Anyway, I have to say, this product is probably the only product that is capable of holding the curl in my lashes all day. I have stiff lashes, so other mascaras will hold the curl for an hour or two, but eventually my lashes will break free and straighten itself right back out. However, with this mascara, it doesn't stand a chance. My lashes are forced to curl and stay curled. Love, Love, LOVE!

• NYX Doll Eye Mascara Long Lash

It's unfortunate that I don't have a picture of this product, I ran out so I don't have it available. I had it earlier in the year, however when I ran out I decided to try other mascaras. I gotta say, even though I have other mascara loves out there, nothing compares to this baby. Ok, maybe something does compare, and that would be Lancome's Definicils Mascara. But Lancome's is like $20 and this is only $7, so yea... do the math. Anyway, so I adore this mascara and I'm actually gonna go pick one up as soon as I get to an Ulta store. I don't know what else to say really, it's great. It does what it aims to do, which is give you dolly looking, long ass lashes and I just love it. That's it. I love it.

• L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion in Blackest Black

This is actually the newest addition to my mascara collection, and I recently talked about how much I adore it. As if I didn't sound repetitive already, I'm not gonna repeat myself with this one. So check out my post on it here cuz I still feel the same way about it anyway =)

• Bare Minerals Brow Color in Auburn

First of all, I don't even know why I included the swatch, it looks stupid. It looks shimmery and it really isn't. It's auburn but when I apply it lightly it's looks taupe-ish. Some days, I do choose to make my brows darker and more defined so I apply with a heavier hand and it looks auburn or dark brown, depends on the lighting. But anyway, I really love this product because it's so versatile. Not only do I use it for filling in my brows but I also sometimes use it as eyeliner and eyeshadow.

• L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in Gray

I've heard some very mixed reviews about this product but I really could care less. I absolutely love it. It's a little hard to sharpen at first because the product is kinda soft so you might end up breaking the tip. But when you get it down to whatever technique works for you, it's all gravy from there. I use to love MAC's Kohl Eyeliner in Phone Number, but ever since I got this I'm all like, no thanks, I don't need yo'Phone Number no'mo!!! But foreal forealzzz... this product truly delivers for me. I apply it in the morning, do whatever I gotta do, and at the end of the night I'm struggling to take it off. That's how much it sticks. Lubba Lubba Lubba!!!

• Benefit Cosmetics Eye Bright

Let me start off by saying that I originally didn't want to buy this product. That sales person was one manipulative heffa. However, I can't be too mad at her cuz I ended up loving this shit. I don't really have dark circles, but some mornings I do look hella tired. And when those mornings happen, this is my little face-saver. ALSO, it doubles as a lip-plumper. I put it on the bow of my lip, and the center part of my bottom lip and pow! Smoochezzzz!

The Year of The Lipstick

Ok, maybe not really. But this year is the year that I began to really like lipstick. I've always been a gloss-girl, I didn't mind the sticky, hair-stuck-on-your-lips feel. I WANTED my lips to look like I just ate lechon.

I mean, I've always had a shade or two of lipsticks laying around, but this year I specifically paid attention to them. Honestly, and I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but I never really realized there were so many different finishes. Matte, frost, sheen, shine, cream, wet, etc. Geezuz! There's always something to discover!

Anyway, so I've got quite a few in my collection now but these ladies are the ones I always seem to reach for.



You might like these if:
- you like a very creamy feel to your lipstick
- you like neutrals
- you like them pigmented

• MAC Lustre in High Tea

This is my favorite of all favorites! This is one of the first lippies I've ever bought and also one of the first MAC items I've ever owned. I looks sheer but on me, it really isn't. Of course it's a neutral color, it's incredibly creamy, and it suits just about any look. When all else fails, I grab this one, as a matter of fact, it stays in my purse.

• Revlon Matte in Nude Attitude

At first, I was a little afraid to try this color because it looked too light and I thought that maybe it was gonna be too dry/too matte. But thanks to a BOGO Free deal at CVS, I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did because now it's earned a place in my heart. I was surprised at how creamy this was and how it actually looked good on it's own. It didn't make me look like I was munching on chalk, it's got a slight hint of peach in it and I think that really helps the product be more wearable.

• Victoria Secrets Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Scrumptious

I can't even really tell you how much I LOVE this color. Look at it! The name says it all, it's SCRUMPTIOUS! VS really got their shit right this time around, especially with this color. It's pigmented, it's creamy, leaves my lips soft but yet it never really leaves my lips =) It's not exactly all day wear, but it's wear well.

• MAC Cremesheen in Creme d'Nude

For this particular lippie, I originally bought it to kinda neutralize the color of my lips. You know, so that I could wear other colors on top of it and it would show up more. But what ended up happening was it would mute down the color of other lippies. I still really like this though, I feel it's best used under lipgloss.

• Maybelline ColorSensational in Warm Me Up

First of all, I don't know why this shade is the neutral family, because if you really look at it, it's quite the plum-ish color. But I guess it's the neutral side of plum... LOL I dunno, don't judge me. Anyway, I love this shade. I don't know what else to say about it, I just really love it.

• Wet'n Wild Wild Shine in Passionate

I know this is kind of the crazy color out of the bunch, but trust me... it's quite more wearable than you think it is. While it is quite pigmented, it'll take a few swipes to really get that hot pink color. So basically, if you just swipe once or twice, you'll just get a really nice but rich color of pink. Most days that I wear this, I end up wearing it over a more neutral color, especially if I'm just going to the store or something really local.

I Have Been Such A Lil...

Yes, I know everyone's got their stories and excuses, but hey... better busy than sitting around not doing a damn thing right?

So as all or most of you know, I'm working now, and regardless of the long hours and such, I couldn't be more satisfied. I'd tell you more about it, but I'm not sure I can publicly do so... yea. But I will honestly say, I'm not stripping =) Nothing against strippers or exotic dancers, I just haven't reached my goal weight yet to do that *smirk*. LOL, but foreals, I'm a Marketing Rep... there, that's all I'll say.

Anywhooooooz... aside from work, life has kept me very, VERY busy in general. My kids (read: my dogs) are demanding every bit of attention more than usual, I think they've noticed that their mommy hasn't been around as much. Anyway, I do feel kinda bad about that, I love my babies. Ya'll know that.

Also, I had this conversation with my BF a couple days back, I forgot how it went exactly but basically I was telling him that when he was the only one working, I did everything else. Yes, HE cooked, but I did the dishes, the laundry, took care of the dogs, took care of all his "accounting" and legal shit, took care of the house, etc. And I did all that cuz I mean... hey, HE worked to pay shit, so since I wasn't contributing to the income (at the time), I made myself useful. But now that I'm working, it's kinda annoying that I STILL do all of the above. Anywhooz... we're working on that. He's great at what he does, but he can't seem to add any more to his plate, but TRUST. That'll all change =) For his health, it better.

I've also got some other stuff going on but I won't say just yet!
