    Updates

So it's been a hot, hot minute since I've posted anything really worth while... but fret not. It's not that I've been lazy, it's just that I seriously haven't had time.

I thought I would have Memorial Day weekend to catch up but I ended up being sick. So sick that I had to call in on Friday at work, which made it a 4 day weekend for me but no bueno cuz I don't get paid. Boo! It's ok, I needed to rest, I had a fever 2 nights in a row. I'm still left with sniffles and hard coughs but at least it's manageable.

    Anywhooz, enough of that pity-party!

I've been buying quite a few things from Avon and I have to dedicate a post (or two) about a few things that I absolutely adore. Not just for promotional purposes but simply because I think some of you out there would really find it helpful.

Also, in case you aren't following my tweets, I will be attending IMATS LA on Saturday, June 25th. I won't have a booth (shame on me! LOL) but I would love to meet some of you gals! I'll be there with my sis and my niece (who's my makeup protégé) and my beautiful babes Jackie & Tia (w/our photographer, her loving BF, and our beloved friend Brian)

    Alritey, that's all folks!
    Oh and by the way...

You have 12 hours to join my Sigma Giveaway!

    Remember Why...

    Three day weekends...
    Sales events...
BBQ's, booze, and stars and stripe bikinis...

In the midst of all the fun, remember the real reason we celebrate.

For those who've lost their lives in serving this country, we remember.
    And we appreciate.

    Happy Memorial Day!

    PO: Accepting A Flaw

When I was young, I always knew something was wrong with my eyes.

The kids behind me could see better than I could and I sat in the second row for most classes. I was in denial for a long time until the school nurse in high school finally called me out on it.

    "You need glasses."

Yikes... at the time I had a fear of having to use corrective lenses. Not so much about people making fun of me, even at a much younger age I really could give less a fuck about people thinking I was a dork or whatever. It was more like, omg... if I start wearing glasses now, it'll only get worse! I might be blind by 40! Not true of course, but I was a bit dramatic back in the day =)

Anyway, when my mom & I finally got around to shopping for glasses, I decided on a very studious yet stylish pair. Fast forward to a couple years after that, my sister introduced me to colored contacts. Hell no, I thought at first. Why the hell would anyone wanna purposely poke their eye ball like that? I gave in nonetheless, because I fell in love with the idea of being able to accentuate what would otherwise be a flaw. I mean, how awesome is it that you can switch up your eye color -- and switch back to normal -- AND be able to see clearly!
(I still prefer wearing glasses by the way, I don't like suffocating my eyes for long periods of time.)

That said, I wanted to show off my new Freshlook Colorblends in "Sterling Grey".
    Photobucket
I absolutely LOVE how obvious they look. A lot of people like to play it down and just want something that blends in. Not me... if I wear it, you're gonna see it!

Note: I wasn't paid or compensated for this post. But I do wanna thank Tia for puttin' me up on game with this color!

    Three Brush-keteers!

    What it is:
a set of 3 kabuki style face brushes made with synthetic filaments.

    Where to get it:
    Sigma

    How much:
$42 for the set (includes a free gift for spending over $30 by using my link!) or sold separately for $16 each.

    What I like about it:
like any Sigma brush, these are very well made for such an affordable price. And like any kabuki brush, these help create a very nice buffed look.

    What could be improved:
    nothing I can think of.

    Overall:
I love these brushes, but I do have a favorite =) If u get nothing else from this set, you should definitely try the F80 which is the flat-top kabuki. All three brushes are good for powders, minerals, liquids and creams, but it's the flat top F80 that really creates a smooth looking face.

The angled top kabuki F84 and rounded top kabuki F82, for blush & getting into small areas, both work well for their respective purposes. I don't wanna take anything away from how much I love them, but really, they are what they are and that's all I've found them good for.

The flat top F80 on the other hand, I bring this thing everywhere! I've used it for liquid & different types of powder foundies, bronzer and blush (not all on the same occasion of course, lol, I'd have a hella muddy looking face! But at least it'll be really smooth looking! Haha).

Anyway, hope this review was helpful, and if you want a chance at owning your own F80 (to fully appreciate why I'm so in love with it), then you're gonna want to stay tuned for my next post *winks*

[note: I was not paid or compensated for this post. I bought these brushes on my own a little while back.]

All A-Mama-mazing Women in the World...

    ... Stand up!

This post is dedicated to all the super moms out there, especially my own.

Thru life's thunderstorms and bright sunshine rays and everything else in the middle, my mother has been thru it all (and will probably still be able to go thru it again and again).

I don't know how she does it, but whenever I feel like giving up I always look at her as my guiding light. I look at all the things she's done and endured, and I think to myself,

"if mom can do it, then so can I"

... and I keep on keepin' on.

I appreciate you & love you Mom!

    Happy Mother's Day!!!

    Giving In...

After getting this travel brush kit, I've been ogling the other travel kits from Sigma.

I figured, not only would it complete my collection, but it would also allow me to bring all the tools I need anywhere I go. But for awhile, I kept going back and forth about whether or not I really wanna shell out the bucks for more brushes.

Then I saw Tia had a 10% OFF code so I said to myself, screw it and clicked "confirm order" and the rest is history.

Sigma Premium Travel Kit - Hot in Pink

It comes with a brochure that describes all the brushes in the kit, in case you didn't know what it was for.

And I got another one of these babies for spending over $30.

Here's how the clutch looks opened.

And here's the brushes up close.

I gotta say, one thing I love about Sigma brushes is that the travel sized stuff is just as great as the full/professional size. The quality and performance of each brush doesn't vary too greatly... as a matter of fact, I think the only difference is the shorter handles on the travel sizes. Personally, I like the shorter handles =)

    That's it for now!

I Was Due For A Rant... Sooo...

Like to hear it? Here it goes:

My BF and his co-worker (who's black) go over to install at a caucasian
woman's house. She answered the door, took a good look at them and says,

    "oh... minorities!"

My BF and his co-worker looked at each other and she continues to say,

    "don't worry. I'm not a racist! I have family that's
    married to black people."

    * * * * *
    Un-fucking-acceptable!

At this day and age, we really have to go thru this shit? I'm just sayin', if u weren't racist, u wouldn't even notice their skin color because everyone u meet looks the same, like oh, I dunno, a fucking human being?

I don't know about u, but when I see someone, I notice how they dress and maybe how their hair is, but I do NOT take notice of their color because that shit doesn't matter and you know why? Cuz I've met some very amazing people in all different colors and I've met some serious assholes in all different colors, too.

I really didn't want to ever have to blog about any racial issues on this blog but I wasn't there and I was very offended by this. And y'all can only imagine how my BF and his co-worker felt, having to stay at her place until the job was done. And it has nothing to do with the fact that she was caucasian, but more so the audacity she had to say some shit like that.

Ugh, whatever. That bitch can go to her own special hell.
    I'm done.
