Anyone heard of Groupon?Anyway, it's a website that offers some pretty insane deals for local businesses. It caught my eye way back when my workplace decided to advertise on it, but I never really paid too much attention to it until I saw a deal for body wrap treatments.
For those who don't know what a body wrap is, it's basically you being wrapped in this muddy or waxy like stuff, then wrapped with saran wrap, then covered with a blanket. It's supposed to help you sweat out toxins and lose enough water weight to make you feel slimmer, tighter, and all around lighter. Now don't go thinking this is a solution to all your diet problems, it IS a fast fix, but it's incredibly temporary. I've tried it once before because I absolutely NEEDED to fit in this one dress for a very special occasion. But as soon as the dress came off, the weight went back on. Plus, it was the most uncomfortable experience I had ever put myself through.
Anyway, so when I saw this deal on Groupon, I thought to myself, "oh the poor suckers who are gonna buy this have no idea what's coming for them!" But then I scrolled down a little more and saw that it said "infrared lighting". I'm like, wtf? They're gonna burn the water weight off? So, naturally the curious kitty that I am, I googled it.
I found that it's completely different from my past body wrap experience. Number one, you don't have to be naked and number two, you won't feel like a stuffed burrito!
Sooo... I bought into the deal. Literally. My first appointment is today... will curiosity kill this cat? I'll let you know as soon as I get home.

Body Wrap LAThe deal ended a couple weeks back but Groupon still has other pretty amazing stuff to offer so check them out anyway.

So I just got back from my wrap and here are my thoughts:- I didn't have a hard time finding them, they were pretty easy to locate so I was pretty happy about that.
- I arrived hella early because I thought I'd hit traffic but I didn't. I didn't want to wait in the car so I went inside willing to wait for my actual appointment time but they were able to start my treatment sooner so I guess it's a good thing I got there early.
- Compared to my first experience with body wraps I was much more comfortable this time. Instead of being saran-wrapped and naked, sliding in my own sweat inside a cocoon of blankets, I was able to be in my sweat pants and hoodie and my arms were free to move around (I was still cocooned in this heavy, thermal blanket, but still I didn't feel suffocated).
- They had netflix available, I chose my favorite episode of Spartacus ("Kill Them All") and that made time pass by pretty quick.
- Did I sweat a lot? Hell yes. Do I feel lighter or tigher? Eh... not so much. I don't really feel different at all. I feel like I went running in the heat for an hour without the feeling of soreness or tiredness.
- Their website does mention it might take at least 5 sessions to see results, but that's too bad for me because I only bought 3 thru Groupon.
- The site also mentions my metabolism would be heightened for up to 36 hrs, which oddly enough, I do feel quite energized. Whether it's foreal or just mental, I don't care cuz regardless I feel like being more active now.
Overall experience was positive, I might have just went in there expecting too much because my last experience was quite an ordeal. But I guess I can't really finalize how I feel about this method of body wraps considering I still have 2 sessions left =)
